Check out all the best of the week in Issue 240 of the Tech Smart Boss Newsletter.
Now I’m not going to pretend to tell you Chanty is as good as Slack, period. But what I will tell you, it’s good enough, and I just couldn’t stomach the renewal bill coming up with Slack. And to that person saying, Slack is free. No, due to the search history, feature limitations, and the integrations, the free version just doesn’t cut it for me, and the paid version per user for my team was more than I wanted to pay.
I’ve been actively using Chanty the past 2 months, and it’s been good enough. I was able to set up all my public and private channels and invite my users. The chats and direct messages work as expected. The voice calls and screen share features are comparable to Slack. The mobile apps and web access methods are similar to Slack. They even have some features like task management that gives them an edge over Slack.
Where Chanty falls a little short is in the integrations and, for me at least, in the overall user interface and user experience. This could be because I am simply used to Slack, but there seems just to be a few small things wrong with their font size, style sheet, really minor things (that I tend to make a big deal of with my pixel-perfect eyes).
All in all, my business has continued to function well with Chanty (and without Slack). Granted, I am having to route more integrations via Zapier into Chanty (which I am not happy about) so I am still actually paying for 1 user (me) on Slack just to keep search history and integrations active.
Maybe in a few months, I’ll feel comfortable enough to get rid of that paid account as well.
Check it out, Chanty, our Cool Tech of the Week. It could be your Slack replacement OR it could be your Slack alternative if you are looking for a tool and didn’t want to go with Slack.
We send out the Tech Smart Boss newsletter, once a week, at 10am EST on Saturday. Sign up here (and you can unsubscribe in the footer of the email anytime you like).
